Health Tips
10 Tips that can help you be as lean as you want for those summer events.
1. Meal frequency – Eating every 2.5 - 3
hours will keep your metabolism up and burning like wild fire.
2. Protein King - Eating protein at
every meal helps to keep you full. Digesting protein burns more calories than
digesting other nutrients.
3. Fiber - Research has shown
those who get at least 20g - 30g of fiber/day have much less cravings and carry
much less body fat then those who don't get as much.
4. Change your Carbs - Changing your
carbohydrate sources from bread, pasta and rice to legumes, quinoa, oatmeal and
sweet potatoes will help you stay in fat burning mode, as they are lower on the
GI scale.
5. Drop Caloric Drinks - Cutting out the
400cal coffee drinks, sodas, fruit juices and high calorie alcoholic beverages
can help you cut out empty calories. Drink water, green tea and diet
sodas.
6. Eat Carbs early in
day -
Physiologically, our bodies tend to use carbohydrates for energy during day but
after 4:00PM carbs are usually stored as body fat. So try to get all your
carbs for the day before 4:00PM.
7. Get your Greens - Lettuce, broccoli,
peppers, green beans, asparagus, cucumbers, and more. These foods provide
essential vitamins and minerals to keep metabolism working right and also help
to volumize your meal.
8. Fish oil - Research tests shows
that anywhere between 15g-30g of fish oil/day can help in increasing your
metabolism by at least 20%-25%.
9. Healthy Fats - Using healthy fats
such as olive oil, nuts, nut butters and whole eggs can actually help blood
sugar levels stay stable which keeps the body in a fat burning stage.
10. Weigh and Measure - Knowing portion sizes
and controlling those can make all the difference for a lean and mean summer!
The more of these tips you follow the better your results will be!
